Life Legacy
Mildred Gillespie Snelgrove, age 86, loving wife of the late Rev. Dewitt Snelgrove died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the Oconee Medical Center. She was born in Oconee County and was the daughter of Dane and Thomas Clint Gillespie. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and retired from the Kendall company. For many years she owned and operated M and B ceramics. As a pastors wife, she was tireless in ministering to others side by side with her husband. Throughout her life, Mildred shared her love and kindness with those she met. Her family and friends are exceedingly blessed to have had her in their lives.
Mildred is survived by her loving daughter, Bonne Snelgrove Land. In edition to her daughter, Mildred has one granddaughter, Lori Land Byrd and husband Gary Byrd and two precious great grandsons, Grayson and Jackson Byrd of Columbia, S.C.. She is also survived by her sister, Gaynell Gillespie Collins and two brothers, Charles Gillespie and Billy Ray Gillespie.
Funeral services will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Friends and family will receive from 12:00 to 1:00pm at the church and the funeral services will be at 1:00pm followed by burial at the Oconee Memorial Park.
