Slay Holleman Whitfield, 83 of Seneca, SC went home to be with his Lord on Friday July 30, 2010. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Lewis Wade and Pearl Palmer Whitfield, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Mr. Whitfield is survived by his wife Avanelle Owen Davis Whitfield, 2 step-daughters, Beverly Davis Spivey (Carl) of Richmond, VA and Sandra Davis Morgan (Darrell) of Pine Bluff, AR, 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 9 nieces and 8 nephews. Mr. Whitfield was born in Townville, SC on May 8, 1927. He was a WWII Veteran and a long time employee of Oconee Medical Center and a faithful member of Seneca Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Sunday August 1, 2010 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Monday August 2, 2010 at 11:00am at Seneca Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seneca Baptist Church or Oconee Hospice of the Foothills Cottingham Hospice House.
